Co-curricular

Co CurricularThe co-curricular culture of Mercy College encourages and promotes student participation in activities that complement their ongoing learning and development across all aspects of life. Complementary curriculum challenges students to new dimensions of being a learner in many different ways and to experience life actively and enthusiastically. By offering a broad range of opportunities within and outside of school hours students experience the many dimensions of team work, collaboration, competition and the celebration that results from being able to demonstrate emerging expertise.

The broad range of co-curricular activities reflects the rich traditions of the College, emerging areas of student interest, aspects of cultural expression and life skills in communication, performance and celebration. The current range of activities includes:

  1. debating and public speaking,
  2. sporting activities, (football, soccer, netball, tennis, cricket, volleyball, softball)
  3. performing arts (drama, music, dance)
  4. interest groups (book club, anime club, animal welfare)
  5. social justice groups (Seeds of Justice, East Timor)

Parents are asked to support their daughters' endeavors to take part in co-curricular activities for enjoyment, to meet and interact with girls and teachers from other year levels, to discover and develop their talents and to contribute to the wider aspects of Mercy College community life.
